West End Residence

Vision: The owners of the home wanted to increase the size of the space with the goal of accommodating large family gatherings and overnight stays, in addition to having a unique area to display their substantial art collection as centerpieces, not as accents to other spaces. (The early stages of this project were completed with a different firm.)

Result: To increase the livable area, two large additions were added to the rear of the house; they were kept separate to preserve intimacy, but linked by a covered outdoor space. One addition served as a family gathering room, and the other was turned into a large eat-in kitchen. Details like pale blue ceilings create an airy, outdoor atmosphere. To connect the older, more segregated areas of the home with the open additions, a long gallery area with skylights was installed. This provided a space for artwork to be displayed and enjoyed as standalone features.
